Work Experience

PROJECT MANAGER / AGILE SCRUM MASTER, Barclays, Jersey (Jul 2011-to present)

Project management of efficient delivery of large-scale technical projects and capabilities across the bank, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations throughout the software product lifecycle, adhering to agreed time, budget and quality requirements.

  • Management of the delivery, resource allocation and improvement of complex technical project capabilities across the bank using Agile Scrum, Kanban and Lean methodologies for planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives and the execution of sprints.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders, customers and business teams to deliver features and changes that deliver value and meet their expectations.
  • Teamwork with software engineers, quality teams, product managers and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle aligned to the bank’s objectives, regulation and security policies.
  • Identification, assessment and mitigation of risks associated with technical projects to prepare the bank for potential challenges.
  • Management of vendor relations involved in technical projects to ensure they deliver according to agreed terms.

IT MANAGER, Payoffshore, Jersey (Aug 2009-May 2011)

Managed all IT systems, including Windows Servers, Ubuntu Linux boxes, networks and firewalls, using Agile methodologies.

  • Ultra-secure configuration of systems, ensuring the company met the Payment Card Industry Standards (PCI-DSS).
  • Installation and maintenance of firewalls and other forms of security software to protect data and systems.
  • Adhered to the Agile Extreme programming (XP) best practice model, that focuses on delivering high-quality software through frequent and continuous feedback, collaboration, and adaptation, with stakeholders.
  • Risk assessments for all major systems against the threat landscape.

SENIOR IT BUSINESS MANAGER, Ashburton, FirstRand Limited, Jersey (Oct 2005-Jan 2009)

Responsible for the overall running of the company’s business-related IT systems, including the support and maintenance of the IT infrastructure.

  • Implemented a working DR (Disaster Recovery) process; and assisted with setting up the governance, risk, and compliance framework.

Delivered a large-scale project implementing the European Savings Directive between Jersey and Switzerland.

Hobbies and Interests

My interests are varied and focus around Linux, computer security, neural networks, chess, traveling, spending quality time with my family, and simply being happy.
